The Super Bowl aired on Sunday, February 6, 2011 on My Fox Boston
Channel 25 in Boston, Massachusetts.One of the best Super Bowl
commercials this year was the Darth Vader ad for the Volkswagen

The Darth Vader Super Bowl commercial featured a pint-sized Darth
Vader trying to influence various household objects, including the
dog, with his powers.At the end of the commercial, through the power
of the Volkswagen Passat's remote starter, Darth Vader is successful,
much to his surprise.

It must also have come as a surprise to Volkswagen that the commercial
became an instant success and the boy behind the mask is now a star.
Six-year-old Max Page is the actor who helped make the Darth Vader
Super Bowl commercial such a hit.

The ad isn't Page's first acting gig.Max Page even has his own page
on The Internet Movie Database (IMDb).The young boy has also
appeared in "The Young and the Restless."

What does Volkswagen Passat have to thank for the massive success of
their Darth Vader Super Bowl commercial?Instead of shrouding their
commercial in secrecy like some Super Bowl ads, or releasing snippets
of their ad like the Kim Kardashian Skechers ad, Volkswagen Passat
released the video in its entirety on YouTube four days before the
Super Bowl even aired.

The advance placement of the Volkswagen Passat commercial led to more
than 12 million views in four days, and made hard-working actor Max
Page a household name.It just remains to be seen whether the
excitement over the Darth Vader Super Bowl ad will translate into
increased sales for Volkswagen.

If you were among the millions to watch the Superbowl yesterday, you probably caught the commercial starring 6-year-old Max Page as Darth Vader. As it was one of the few commercials that people are considering to have lived up to the Superbowl commercial hype, it is getting a lot of attention. In fact, the commercial was viewed 12 million times online before kickoff.

Young Max Page was dressed in a full Vader costume unsuccessfully trying to use “the force” to maneuver different things in his world. When his dad arrives home from work in his 2012 Volkswagen Passat, the mini Darth Vader waves his dad aside and attempts to use “the force” on the car. This is the young actors first National commercial and it looks as though he may have hit the jackpot. His mom says he has never even seen Star Wars and, in fact, they didn’t even know it was a Superbowl commercial he was cast in!
I loved this commercial. As the mom of a 3 year old who LIVES in superhero costumes, this one totally hit a homerun or should I say made a touchdown? What do you think? Are you going to run out and buy a Volkswagen or maybe just a mini Vader costume for your kid?
