The death of great heroes

This may be quite a spoiler topic, so watch yourself.

We know how Chewbacca died, and grand EU hero Anakin Solo... but we still don’t know how will the end of greatest SW heroes look like. We know that SOMEDAY they will die (it’s inevitable) and that’s why I’m interested how you imagine the death of Luke, Han, Leia, Lando, Wedge, Mara etc. – who knows? Maybe your guess will be correct!

I think that Luke Skywalker should die peacefully, as the last of Great Star Wars Heroes. It’d be quite appropriate, considering that he is Jedi Grand Master...
And what about rest? Well, Han & Lando should die because of their age, Leia because of overworking, Wedge in some battle, and Mara Jade Skywalker in fight against someone without Force, lightsaber(s) and Yuuzhan Vong armor.

Well, I dunno... I think Luke won't get the chance to die peacefully like Yoda. He'll probably go down like Kenobi. Facing Jacen or some other villain. Something in those lines anyway. Although, I pity the character that kills/injures Luke... Mara is gonna go Dark Side on him/her.

As for the others... Han and Leia might die together... Lando might live through all of that. He's been neglected since ROTJ, which is sad.

Wedge probably in a dogfight... seems fitting.:p

The only one that could go down peacefully, beside Lando, is Boba Fett. He's been fighting all his life, and I think it'd be nice if he died on Mandalore with his daughter. But thats just my wishfull thinking.:p

As for the others... don't care that much. The only character I liked was Anakin Solo, and since they killed him a long time ago...

Luke should die in peace, many decades after bringing peace to the galaxy. Perhaps with Ben alongside.
Jacen could die like Anakin, regreting his choice to turn to the dark side.
Mara also dies peacefully.
Han dies on Corellia, Leia few years later.
Jaina joins the Force when she's 90 years old.
Ben dies as the new leader of the Jedi.

I've completely forgotten about this topic – and, for some time – about Mos Croatia (sorry, guys). Nevertheless, with the “Legacy of the Force 5: Sacrifice” published, we know at least one new answer to the question “who dies how”.

Well, you missed, though I wouldn’t have guessed that Mara is going to be killed so quickly (I mean, in 40 ABY, I hoped that it’ll happen somewhere near 60-70 ABY). And killed by person so closely related to Mara - Jacen Solo himself. That’s a surprise, isn’t it?

Personally, I don't think so. With Jacen killing Fett's ex-wife earlier and doing all that crap for the NR this wasn't unexpected. I didn't think they would kill Mara, because the character is loved by a lot of fans, but whatever. I understand the reasons why they did it. Should have done that earlier, IMO.

I'm pretty sure you can forget about that. Unless they got a from Lucas himself... which I doubt very much. But who knows.

Boba Fett is getting old, that's for sure. He's probably next in line, since he's not THAT big of character. I wonder what would the 501st guys do if he dies... probably storm LFL headquarters ROTS style...

After that, I'm betting Ben and/or Luke are gonna slice Jacen up real bad. Its unavoidable. Never liked him, especially during the YV years. The horrible the death, the better.

When I first heard about it, I had only read “Betrayal” (because my father also read SW books, and he doesn’t know English at all, I have to wait for Polish versions of SW novels) - but of course I already knew that Jacen Solo is going to become Sith Lord. Still, it was a bit of surprise.

He's too selfish to do that. In the end, he MIGHT realize what he's done, but I don't think he'll kill himself...

I didn't like his characterization. He always was a bit stuck up, thinking he was the best, something overly special just because he as a Solo/part Skywalker. I don't like that trait in anybody, so...

Jaina, however, is another matter. I never disliked her, but never actually liked her that much to care. I think she's the golden middle of the Solo kids. She got all the good traits from her parents, and she knows how to use them. As I said, I haven't read anything after LOTF 2, so I'm not sure how she developed as a character.

It'll be Jacen himself, most probably by the hand of Jaina Solo in Invincible. Judging by her apperance in Fury, she'll be ready to crush him. Although I want Luke to destroy him.

Nah. 9 book sagas usually have expected endings. If you've read any of the LOTF comics (the ones with Cade Skywalker), you can pretty much guess what's gonna happen.

Jacen will never be missed by the fanbase, that's for sure.

As for Anakin... I was spoiled so I knew he was gonna die. And his death was great, in a sad kind of way. Overall the whole book was brilliantly written.

Don't mention Legacy comics - it's not that I don't like them (I'm more like "neutral" in feelings towards Legacy), but they sometimes do piss me off. The whole story with the Third Jedi Purge and new Sith Order is just too unbelievable for me.

Yep, that's true - "Star by Star" is great, IMO the best Denning's novel so far.

Redemption is getting old in SW. Vader went good at the end, Luke came back, half the NJO came back from the dark side. For ONCE I'd like to see a Jedi-went-dark-side die as a true darksider, and not return back.

Jacen has not yet even reached the point to consider redemption. Yes, he's evil, but not as Vader or Palpy. He'll die as ''Sith'' or whatever he thinks he is.

Well, he killed Nelani and later Mara Jade. It's enough, isn't it? Sure, he wasn't mass murderer like Vader, but neither was - for example - Dooku.
One way or another, by "redemption" I mean returning from the Dark Side to the Light Side - I don't mean redemption for the commited crimes, because that's something different.
